It’s official! Although this isn’t the extension that we have all been waiting for, it is definitely a new book that is part of the Twilight Saga. Stephenie Meyer is releasing “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner,” a novella. The book is meant to complement Eclipse and will be released before the movie comes out.

What’s really interesting about this is that you will be able to read the ebook for free online from June 5th through July 5th. You will be able to buy an actual book as well if you want. We do know that it will be hardcover and $13.99. One dollar from each book sold in the first printing will go to the American Red Cross.

According to the official press release, the book will focus on the newborn vampire Bree Tanner, introduced in Eclipse. The story will take us through “the newborn vampire army’s journey as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens.” Because Bree will be featured prominently in the Eclipse movie, it is the perfect time to release the book.

Twilight publisher Little, Brown has released new official Twilight merchandise, the Twilight Journals. Here’s a description:

By now everyone has heard the news that Entertainment Weekly broke about the new Twilight Graphic Novel. The novel is being illustrated by Korean artist Young Kim and the illustrations do NOT seem to be based on the movie characters but rather the book characters. Here is a glimpse:

But everyone wants to know where they can buy the Twilight Graphic Novel. The bad news is that a publication date has not even been released. Once it is, I am sure that you will be able to pre-order the graphic novel from places like Things From Another World and Amazon. We’ll update this post as soon as we get more information!

Many of you have been asking me about preording Twilight: Director’s Notebook by Catherine Hardwicke. Unfortunately, it does not yet look like anyone is taking preorders for it. Here is what I have been able to piece together about the book between the Stephenie Meyer website and MTV:

The book is essentially a look at the making of the Twilight movie from Catherine Hardwicke’s perspective. It includes Hardwicke’s notes about various aspects of the making of the moving, including casting and costumes.

Here is a blurb from the press release about the book’s availability:
“Designed to replicate the director’s own personal notebook that she kept on set, readers will discover the inside secrets on casting, location scouting and wardrobe to storyboard sketches, behind-the-scenes photographs, personal notes about Catherine’s favorite scenes and much more. I noticed today that the Twilight books are 4 of the top 10 selling books available for the Kindle on Amazon. If you do not know what the Kindle is but you read a lot, you should definitely check it out. The Kindle is basically a wireless electronic book reader with a screen that reads like paper. You can download thousands of books, newspapers, and blogs to it. While the initial investment is high, the “books” are much cheaper than books in print.

While the Twilight books run between about $10 and $25 each in paperback or hard cover, here are the Kindle prices:

If you were thinking about getting a Kindle and have not yet purchased the Twilight Saga books, now would be the perfect time because they are thick books and the Kindle would make them very easy to transport.
